Interesting question Lady Wakasa was asking in another thread...how do any of us learn about "King and Clown"? What get us interested and may be a little feedback on our first impression...

So I have put together a poll to find out...please feel free to input Laughing Laughing or let me know of other options to add...

For me, I get to know about this little film from a brief entertainment news article back in early Jan/Feb'06. It was really only a short...a very short write-up (2-3 sentences with no picture)...about this popular craze on a movie about a very effeminate clown in Korea. That go me interested and so I kept a lookout for more details.

Unfortunately, there wasn't much follow-up news until in July or so when it was released in Singapore. I wanted to watch it in the cinema but was too shy Embarassed Embarassed because of the "gay" theme (That was really really a disservice to audience). Anyway, I bought myself a DVD when it was out and I was impressed with the strong performance by the cast and storyline. After that, I went ahead to get myself a copy of the special limited edition and never look back...

BTW, I have also introduced K&C to my sis and a few friends. Just awaiting their feedback.

Reproduced below is what my sis wrote to me about K&C (word by word) Laughing Laughing . I hope she doesn't kill me when she find out I have put it up now Razz Razz Rolling Eyes Confused Confused

"Hi,
finish watching the king & crown. to tell the truth - i was disappointed with the 1st half of the movie - in fact i was like " is she crazy?? Ask me to give ben this movie! what was she thinking?????" the quality was not good, half the time couldnt read the subtitle(very annoying), movie was nothing like the review (maybe after reading the review - i got a really good impression, which was... maybe perfect image), i was kind of uncomfortable with "some" of the scene - i know they were performer but I didnt realise they were "street" performer.... get what i mean. Aanyway, on the whole i think it is not a bad movie - like you say it is not perfect - maybe with better budget they could really improved it. but i hope the dvd version give a better quality & subtitle."

i found out about this by word of mouth...
anyone know of a guy named adam chan??
he was actually at the july 25th showing
at asia society...
he was the guy in whom tore your
movie ticket before you went into
the theatre...

i had met him a few weeks prior to that tho
at some other film showing...
and he had been handing out
fliers for the aaiff...
and postcards of the king and the clown...

anyhow, it was because of him
is how i found out about this film...
and his recommendation is
what encouraged me to go out of my
way to see this...

glad i did...
great film!

Hi, TJ!

Don't know him specifically, but we've spoken with a couple of the AAIFF organizers. We'll be sure to pass the message along.

And you're right - great film!
