Recently, one of our co-founder (Majou) was in Korea for her vacation. One of the places she visited was the Korean Folk Village where shooting for "King and the Clown" took place. Below are the pictures she have graciously shared with us.

My Trip to Korean Folk Village

After I've done my research, I realized I would not be able to fit any other filming location on my schedule. Korean Folk Village is the only location close enough to Seoul that I can fit into my schedule at my recent visit to Korea. Therefore, I told my traveling friend that this is a must-see for me.

My friend and I are actually experienced subway travelers across many continents, so, we thought just following the direction in the guidebook to get there would be a piece of cake for us.

But,..... we were wrong.

The first day, we completely overlooked the fact that the same subway line actually splits into A and B, of course, with my luck, we were on the wrong sub-line.

We ended up on an island. So, since it is a free-style vacation, we missed the Korean Folk Village, but had a grilled seafood feast with few bottles of Korean Soju, and a great time that afternoon.

The next day, we did get on the right bus, and make it onto the free shuttle bus for the village. I was quite excited to see the posters of K&C at the entrance, and then at the shooting site.

We did see most of the shows offered with the exception of rope walking, because of the rain. Actually, the crowd waited there for a long time, hoping the rain will stop.... and I heard many of the Korean murmuring "wang-ui-namja" while we waited.... then...

Everyone was quite disappointed that we did not get to see the performance.

Then, the other pictures of the guards are from one of the palaces. I've taken them thinking that it may be the same ceremony at Joseon Dynasty period. And, I think it is quite interesting when they walked of into the regular street and just blended into the modern Korea background.

Hi Majou,

First of all, thanks for sharing your pictures and insight on your Korean Trip.

Although you did not get to see people walking on tight rope in Korea, at least you found someone walking on rope when you came back home. Wink Wink

Pictures below showing people tight-roping walking at the beach park near Santa Monica Pierre. Pictures courtesy of Majou.

PS. Did you get to see them bouncing on the tigh-rope like Jang-saeng in the movie? Laughing Laughing Laughing
