I've been pretty busy at work lately, but wanted to make sure I mentioned this.

~*~*~*~*~

King and the Clown was shown at Princeton University, Princeton, NJ, at the end of April. The showing was hosted by the Korean-American Students Association, with sponsorship by the East Asian Studies Department (many thanks to department chair David Howell). Unfortunately the showing was on the small side - only 15-20 people - but it was still a lot of fun.

I gave a quick overview of the film and the website as an introduction. To anyone who's joined since, thanks!

It was interesting to watch the movie with an audience – they laughed in places, they gasped in places (the poor woman in front of me kept tugging her jacket over her head whenever someone was getting hurt), and they clapped at the end (yay!). Everyone was very, very involved in the action on the screen.

I was worried about this being my fourth showing - that since I knew what was going to happen (I'm getting close to being able to quote lines) it wouldn't be as much fun. But after about a third of the way through, I noticed I was still very much enjoying things; the storyline is holding up under repeated viewings and I’m noticing new things I didn’t before (yay again!). I would really love to see a real big-screen showing someday, though – this was a DVD projected in a lecture hall. Well, there will be a commercial release at some point...

The East Asian Studies Department also provided traditional Korean snacks afterwards (mmmm). I don't know the names of what I had, but they were good. I stopped off at the Asian supermarket nearby and found them - now I'm hooked!

All in all, a great time. But sorry, no pictures (I can't speak and take pictures at the same time!). %^D

Hi Lady D,

Thanks for the feedback.

I understand that Vietnam will be showing K&C around next weekend as part of the celebration of the diplomatic relationship between Vietnam and Korea. 1000 tickets were given away. I'm hoping to get some feedback from people who will be there to share some pictures.
